    The University of Northwestern Ohio's general education classes are to provide:
    • Skills to achieve academic success as well as, spoken, and nonverbal messages.
    • Research, Information Retrieval: Be able to find, evaluate, and use information from a variety of sources, including libraries and computers.
    • Computer Literacy: Be able to use computers and common software to complete assignments.
    • Math: Be ab, using mathematical operations and logic.

    These competencies will be encouraged and developed through courses in the following areas:
  • Ethics: Gaining an understanding of different systems of values for judging right and wrong, and evaluating and constructing arguments that can be applied to both business and personal life.
  • Social Sciences: Understanding human behavior on both the individual and group level, and learning how an understanding of the past can be applied to current events.
  • Science: Understanding the scientific method and how it is used to explain the natural world.
