(CHARLOTTE, N.C. - August 6, 2012) - Matt Lofton drove the No. 16 Strutmasters.com Chevrolet to a seventh-place finish in his second start at Pocono Raceway Saturday.

Lofton’s weekend didn’t start off so well at the “Tricky Triangle,” as he made contact with the wall during practice Friday prior to qualifying. After his Coulter Motorsports crew quickly made repairs and adjustments to the No. 16 Strutmasters.com Chevrolet, Lofton returned to the track and later qualified eighth for the Pennsylvania ARCA 125.

As the 50-lap event got underway Saturday afternoon, Lofton quickly advanced to seventh place. During the first caution brought out on Lap 6, Lofton noted to crew chief John Wolfe that the car was a little tight on the exit of Turns 1 and 3. Lofton stayed out through the caution and restarted sixth on Lap 12.

Lofton brought the No. 16 Strutmasters.com Chevrolet to pit road on Lap 36 under green for four tires, fuel, and a track bar and air pressure adjustment to help the car exit the turns, as he was still tight in 1 and 3. The race went caution free for the remaining 14 laps and Lofton crossed the finish line seventh, earning his seventh top-10 finish of the 2012 season.

“I’m really fortunate to have such a hard-working team behind me,” Lofton said. “These guys worked hard all weekend and made their best efforts to give me the best car possible. We’ll carry that momentum into next week at Berlin (Raceway) and hopefully come home with another solid finish.”

Lofton the No. 16 Strutmasters.com Chevrolet team head to Berlin Raceway next for the Berlin ARCA 200 on Saturday. Lofton will have two practice sessions (2 – 2:45 p.m. and 3:15 – 4 p.m.) to prepare for Saturday’s event and Menards Pole Qualifying at 5 p.m. The Berlin ARCA 200 gets underway Saturday evening at 8:30 p.m. (All times Eastern.)
