(MOORESVILLE, N.C. - July 30, 2012) - On Friday, Lucas Oil Raceway hosted the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards for the Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 200. Team BCR Racing and Buster Graham brought the No. 88 Batter’s Dream/RoushYates.com Ford Fusion to the race track with the intention of running a clean, solid race.
The ARCA rookie driver and CGS Imaging Hard Charger Points Leader has never had the opportunity to race at Lucas Oil Raceway. With one of the strongest entry list in 2012, Buster and the Team BCR crew had a solid practice and qualified in the 21st position.
At 9 p.m. the green flag waved and the drivers made their way across the start finish line. Graham worked his way to the 18th position when the second caution came out on lap 51, allowing Buster Graham to earn the “lucky dog.” Crew Chief, Jim Pearce, came over the radio asking Buster how the #88 Batter’s Dream/RoushYates.com Ford Fusion was doing. Buster replied, “The set up is great! I have no complaints about the car.” Pearce decided to bring the car in for fuel and four tires.
As the green flag came out on lap 60, Buster would then restart in the 15th position. Problems arose on lap 100 when Graham radioed in and said there was a vibration. Pearce brought in the #88 under green flag conditions and giving up their position in the field. After all four tires were changed, due to the unfortunate pit stop, Graham found himself back down in the 20th position. Graham worked his way through four positions during the final portion of the race, finishing in 16th.
Buster Graham noted, "This was my best race ever, the car was great from the start. RoushYates Engines provided us with great horsepower, and all the crew work so hard week after week to provide me with great cars. I'm very thankful for Team BCR, Batters Dream, RoushYates and everybody who is involved with this program."
“Buster proved he could be a short track racer this weekend,” said Jim Pearce. “He ran the same or better lap times as the leaders after lap 100 of the race. This shows that Buster has made improvements with his driving and is taking our advice throughout the race. The crew and I are all very proud of Buster this week.”
Team Manager, Howard Bixman also provided some words on the race, “Buster stepped up his game this week at Lucas Oil Raceway. I'm so very proud of him, with him never turning a lap here he did an awesome job. I am very impressed with what he achieved this week and the improvements he is making week after week. Due to unfortunate circumstances with the tires being loose, we got a little behind but Buster drove hard and the crew did an outstanding job to get back through the field. We had a top ten car and I think we have a top ten driver.”
Batter's Dream is an automated ball feeding system (pitching machine) that allows baseball and softball players to maximize time in the batting cage by getting more quality cuts without having to fix a tee. The major benefit of the Batter's Dream batting machines is that it allows batters the freedom to focus on rhythm, stance, timing, and swing speed without the need for a second person. The Batter's Dream system has found fans ranging from little league to professional baseball players.
