No. 12 Premium Energy VIP /SRT Motorsports/UNOH Dodge Charger
Jared qualified with a fast lap of 31.58; starting the race in 12th position.
Handling Conditions Challenge Jared and Team TMR at Chicagoland Speedway
Jared would take the green in 12th position for the 100 lap event that would be
his first actual 1.5-mile speedway race of his career. The field of 34 cars would just get settled in before the first caution would come out on Lap 5 when the No. 69 would spin off of turn 2. With only 5 green flag laps in his No. 12 Dodge Charger there was no need come down pit road for adjustments so early in the race- leaving Jared to battle tight conditions for the next 31 laps. Hanging on to a top-15 position for nearly half of the race the second caution would fly on Lap 45. Jared would come down pit road for 4 fresh Hoosiers, fuel and an adjustment to help the conditions he was dealing with. Unfortunately, Jared would discover he had a clutch problem and the crew would have to push him off pit road for the restart of the race. Taking the restart on Lap 51 in 13th; two laps later the second caution of the day would fly for a car that had slid into the grass. Lap 56 Jared would restart 12th moving to 11th but was now fighting a loose condition that would leave him going a lap down. The remainder of the race went caution free and Jared would hang on to 13th position where he would take the checkered flag for the ActivArmr® 150.
Kevin Swindel wins his first ARCA Series race leading all 150 laps- followed by Brennan Poole, Frank Kimmel, Chris Buescher and Ryan Reed rounding out the top 5.
Thirty four cars took the green flag for the ActivArmr® 150, 3 cautions slowed the field for just 11 laps for the race that lasted slightly over and hour for an average speed of 141.03, shattering the 2009 record of 111.02 mph.
In his 9 attempts out of 12 ARCA Series races for the season Jared moves up to 12th position in the point standings.
Marks Post Race Comments: “It was a learning experience for me this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway, it was my first actual 1.5mile-oval track. I raced at Pocono and Michigan last month, but this was different and I learned a lot. We brought a new car this week and we had to work at trying to find more speed, we also had a clutch issue come up during our single pit stop of the day causing us to lose track position. All in all, we brought home a 13th place finish with our No. 12 Dodge Charger and I want to thank my guys for all the hard work they did to make sure this new car was ready for me. I am really looking forward to getting to Lucas Oil Raceway for some short track racing again.”
