(MOORESVILLE, N.C. - July 23, 2012) - The Ansell ActivArmr 150 offered a chance at redemption for Larry Barford Jr.
After a frustrating run at Iowa, Barford brought on a driver coach, who worked with Larry and the C2M team to improve his performance over Iowa and bring home a 21st place finish.
As the crew at C2M worked to address handling issues during practice, Larry worked with Driver Coach and Spotter, Austin Pollack, to find a comfortable line and consistently hitting his marks. The group effort paid off, as Larry was able to shave off nearly a second off his best practice run during qualifying, finding an additional 3.7 mph to qualify at a speed of 161.324 mph.
"We really made some great strides this weekend as a team, working to get the car set up closer to what we need and finding speed for qualifying. Working with Austin as a coach was great, he helped me find braking points and search for different lines during the race. He has a lot of knowledge and was a great help. The team and I still have some work to do to get the finishes we know that we are capable of. This car will be going to Pocono, so it should be a better run there because we know what changes we need to make. Larry’s next race will be the Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 200 to take place at Lucas Oil Raceway to be televised on SPEED on Saturday July 27th at 9pm ET. The trip to Indianapolis is a one day event, running with the ARCA CRA Super Series.
