(MOORESVILLE, N.C. - July 18, 2012) - Carter 2 Motorsports is gearing up for a weekend of redemption.

After last weeks bump in the road at Iowa Speedway, the currently two-car team is going to familiar territory with another intermediate track on the horizon. The team may not have raced at Chicagoland Speedway before with driver Larry Barford Jr. but with a new car and intermediate track experience the combination could equal great results.

“Chicagoland seems fast like Michigan, which I got a handle on pretty quick when we were there last month,” said rookie contender Barford Jr. “I think the main difference is that this track hasn’t been repaved yet, so it’s not going to be as smooth and has unique characteristics, but I’m ready for the challenge.”

The track, known for it’s unique curved backstretch, will take both a good driver and fast car combination to tackle the oval. Barford Jr. will get to showcase his driving skills behind the brand new No. 04 1st Mariner Mortgage/Trauma Doc/ RAD Racing Dodge this weekend. Another piece on Barford Jr.’s side is veteran crew chief Jeff McClure, who has plenty of experience and advice for the driver with just 10 ARCA Racing Series starts under his belt. Learning and gaining experience has proven to be key for both Barford Jr. and C2M this year.

“Last week was especially a tough one to swallow with such high anticipation of doing well with a new car and new sponsor, but Chicagoland should be a great place to regroup and get results that show all our teams hard work,” said team owner Roger Carter, who will be back behind the No. 40 Racing to Save America Dodge.

The team will have two practices on Friday to make any adjustments before Menards Pole Qualifying and the Ansell ActivArmr 150 on Saturday. The race can be seen live on SPEED at 4:00 p.m. CT, 5:00 p.m. ET, with live timing and scoring on ARCAracing.com.
