Jared Marks
No. 12 Premium Energy VIP /SRT Motorsports/UNOH Dodge Charger
Jared took to the Tricky Triangle rather quickly, with guidance from Penske spotter Chris Osborne. Practice on the newly paved tri-oval went well with Jared posting the 9th fastest time overall and a qualifying lap of 53.65 placing him 8th for the start of the race.
Another Top 10 for Marks and Team TMR
On his first superspeedway start, Jared brings home a 7th place finish in the Pocono ARCA 200, three top-10 finishes in a row for the young rookie.
Thirty-three cars took to the 2.5-mile superspeedway for the 80 lap event. Jared taking the green flag with confidence-knowing the crew had given him a great car for the track that he had not raced on until this weekend. Starting 8th on the Tricky Triangle, Jared fought a tight off condition, maintaining a top-15 position when the caution came out on lap 15. Crew Chief Wayne Carroll made the call to bring Jared down pit road on lap 17 for 4 tires and fuel, exiting the pits in 13th position where he would restart the race. By the halfway point in the race Jared was feeling really comfortable in his No. 12 Premium Energy VIP/SRT Motorsports/UNOH Dodge Charger maintaining a solid top 10 position, working his way up to 6th when the caution would come into play again on lap 58 and the race leaders would pit. It was time for Jared to come in for 4 tires and a full load of fuel; unfortunately he would exit the pits in 12th position after encountering a lugnut issue. The green flag would fly with 17 laps to go where Jared would run his fastest lap of the day picking up 5 positions, bringing home an impressive 7th place finish, his third top-ten in a row.
Brennen Poole dominated for the win, followed by Chad Hackenbracht, Alex Bowman, Matt Lofton and Chris Buescher rounding out the top five.
Jared currently holds the 9th place point position after the weekend’s event.
Marks Post Race Comments: “I thought we had a really good run for our first superspeedway race, the track was better than I expected it to be, it was smooth and had a lot of grip and I adapted to it quickly. We had a few mishaps in the pits that we were able to overcome, and we will continue to work to improve in those areas.”
